Usually in the Oscars we see one film take a large number of the awards, but this year we’ve seen a very mixed bag winners. This despite there being such a strong reaction around the world to films like boyhood, which had a poor showing of only one win, but we saw a number of thought provoking dramas and biopics this year, which are what tend to do well during the Oscars.
So we saw films like The Theory of Everything, Birdman, the Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game and Still Alice receive some of the most sought after awards.
Julianne Moore finally won an Oscar for best Actress, on her fifth nomination, for her part in Still Alice, where she played a woman suffering from early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Eddie Redmayne managed to take the Best Actor win for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in the film The Theory of Everything – a film of Stephen Hawking beginning his academic life, finding love, and the start of his suffering of ALS.

London regularly plays host to Comic Con; a fan convention for comics, graphic novels, anime and video games. There are often special guests including movie stars, comic creators and TV stars. It’s basically a chance to celebrate non-fiction movies, comic and magazines and get closer than ever to the people behind such magnificent creations.
Comic Cons can be found all around the UK and though the idea was taken from the Comic Cons in America, it’s important not to underestimate the following here in the UK. Many people will visit these conventions to take advantage of the rare merchandise on offer, or to simply meet people who share their same passion for comic books.
These are also the type of conventions where people dress up as their favourite superheroes and villains, so if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to dress up as your favourite character then now’s your chance.

The film is an epic rebirth of the Toho iconic Godzilla marking the 50th anniversary of Godzilla franchise, directed by Gareth Edwards. Godzilla returns to a “terrifying force of nature”. The remake of the film will add a “very compelling human drama” and that Godzilla would be tied to a “different contemporary issue” rather than the original atomic bomb testing.
22 Jump Street : Release Date – June 13th 2014
Jenko (Channing Tatum) and Schmidt (Jonah Hill) are back deep undercover in college to fight more evil and tolerate more “You look a little old to be here” observations from their fellow students. In this sequel they will be alongside Ice Cube.
